Ruth's Story
Life
Born in Longeueille, PQ and grade schooled in Eardly Elementary School and Aylmer Elementary school while living in Aylmer, PQ.
Moved to Ottawa, ON at the end of grade 6 and went to Glashan Public School for grades 7 & 8. Went to high school at Glebe Collegiate and Carleton University shortly there after to study Mechanical Engineering.
After graduating with a B. Eng., I immediately got a job at General Motors Diesel Division in London, ON where they design and manufacture LAVs (Light Armoured Vehicles).
At the end of '96 I ventured out to the states and worked at Genie Industries in Redmond, WA, only to return shortly there after to put an end to a long distance relationship.
From there I did a short stint at Champion Road Machinery in Goderich, ON but found the commuting difficult so ended up moving to Chatham, ON and working at International Tr...Expand for more
uck & Engine Corporation's Chatham Assembly Plant.
I held various positions within the engineering department at the assembly plant, with responsibilities ranging from manufacturing support to the coordination and development of vehicle and component level test plans for Heavy Duty & Severe Service On- and Off-Highway trucks & tractors. I ended my 7-year career with International as Technical Services Supervisor to return to University in 2005.
I just completed my M. A. Sc in Applied Science having spent the last 2 years conducting research at McMaster University in support of my Thesis on Decision Support for Urban Wind Energy Extraction, primarily focusing on quantifying building aerodynamics-induced wind amplification.
I am still living in Hamilton, ON working feverishly to land a position as an Energy Analyst and/or start my own consulting business.
