Ruth's Story
Life
Since school, all those many years ago, I have gone through many life changes. I have lived in Ontario Canada, Indiana and now in Oklahoma. My motto or credo is "Life is all about the journey". I have met many wonderful people along the way as well as some that were not so wonderful but, I've never lost touch with some of my old friends from school.
I have one son that will be 27 in August of 2006 and a daughter-in-law the same age. They are great kids and they live in Indiana where I was living up until January 2005. In January I moved to Oklahoma with my 2 Australian shepherds and a U-Haul trailer full of my life (up to that point). I got married in March of 2005 and I finally feel like I am where I am suppose to be. I sure miss my kids though.
I now live on the T Bar Cattle Ranch where we have Angus cows and calves, horses, show sheep and goats. Our granddaughter shows the sheep and goats. We also raise Australian Shepherd pups to sell. They make great cowdogs.
I sell many items on ebay and actually we have two stores. One is called Grannys Perpetual Garage Sale and Ray, my husband, has T Bar Western Tack....Expand for more
We aren't getting rich but we enjoy looking for the items to sell. We are busy from sun up til midnight almost everyday. My husband was a cowboy for 30 years. That is one of the hardest most physical jobs there is. I am now part of the cattle (working) crew, which means I help herd them into the hydraulic chute where we de-horn, castrate, tag ears, worm, give shots and brand them all at once. I enjoy the hard work but to be honest I haven't gotten the castration or de-horning down yet. Don't really plan on getting it too soon either...
The sun shines here 350 days out of the year so you don't go into the winter blues here. In the dead of winter it could be 20 degrees at 6 am and by 2 pm it can be 60 degrees. The wind blows everyday here and in the summer you really need it to. The sun is very hot. In May of this year we had 105 deg. weather and even though the humidity was in the 20's HOT IS HOT...
To sum up my life to this point I would have to say that I have finally found my niche in life. I always felt drawn by the west and knew if I ever got to visit it I would not want to leave it and I sure was right. Soooo HERE I AM!
