Sabrina's Story
After graduation at BV I worked for a couple of years with my Uncle, Jimmy Maxwell. Simultaneously I worked at Ella B. Allen Elementary school part time and found a love for teaching youngsters.
In 1978 I married a handsome Norwegian I met at church; Tim Volstad. We've been married 34 years now. We have four absolutely wonderful children... Oldest to youngest: Brad is an Air Traffic Controller. Holly is a Music Teacher. Sally is graduating this year with a Nurse degree. Tim Ray is attending Moody Bible Institute for a degree in Aviation.
In 1982 I became a resident in Alaska. We lived in Anchorage for nearly 9 years then moved to Seldovia for 12 years. Talk about adventure! Seldovia was a small town of 250 residents and our main mode of transportation was a Cessna 206. During our stint in Seldovia I worked for the Oilspill Response Team; then for Homer Air for a couple of years. I loved that job... and the pilot(s) let me take the stick and fly when we didn't have passengers on board. I never became a liscensed pilot but I LOVE flying! Before moving out of Seldovia, I was employed by Seldovia Village Tribe for 4 years. The aboriginal people in our United States are such wonderful people! They have a piece of my heart.
In 2002 we moved back into Anchorage, AK. Over the past few years I've worked for the Department of Public Safety (...which is where I wish I had continued working); then for Alaska Digital; Great Northern Source Wholesale Electronics Distributors; then for Everts Air Cargo as Account Executive and Passenger Charter Flight Attendant. Now I am employed at Alaskan Wood Moulding as the General Manager.
I love my family deeply and have a couple of steadfast; incredible soul-sisters that I could not live without. God has blessed me. What more can I say? I hope you've enjoyed your journey as I have. Sabrina Hamilton Volstad
