Sally's Story

Life Hello fellow "Seniors 64 Forevermore". Can it really have been 38 years since we graduated? Golly, we were so young and I--for one--was naive as well as clueless about life. Since then,I've been busy. After graduating from McMurry University, in Abilene, I taught children music in Arlington, married my wonderful husband, and we had a daughter. We moved to Canada for 3 1/2 years and adopted a baby boy. Returning to the states, we moved to Houston and got custody of my husband's 4 children. Later, we moved to Keller, where we lived for 20 years. While there, I taught 4th graders for 12 years, was a choir director, a Sunday School teacher, Girl Scout leader and high school swim coach. I LOVED teaching and had to retire, because I have multiple sclerosis and am now in a wheelchair. We moved to Florida and live on the water in a town between Pensacola and Ft. Walton Beach. It's beautiful and to make life even more wonderful, 5 of our children and 8 of our grandchildren(ages 17 yrs. to 7 mos.) moved very close to us. I love watching the grandchildren play on the beach and pray for the day when I can walk with them. For now, I spend a lot of time reading to, singing with, and keeping secrets with them. Randy has been putting up with me--strong opinions and all--for almost 33 years. Life is good and Randy and I are blessed. I hope y'all are happy, too. December 2009 Howdy everyone. Hope you all have a super Merry Christmas and a wonderful 2010. I'll try to bring you up to date about me. To begin with, Randy and I completed our house with our daughter, Holly, her husband and two sons. We live on a bay near Pensacola. The bottom floor is totally handicap accessible. We have 5 bedddrooms, so...Expand for more
any of you should come visit us and enjoy the beautiful weather and water. Also, downstairs we have The Texas Room, which is my favorite room!! Obviously, I still miss Texas. I still go to my MS specialist in Dallas, twice a year and stay in Keller, with our good friends. Usually, we visit Corsicana to visit my 5 cousins. Joe, my brother, and his two daughters visit, also. Sidney, my sister, moved to Boise, ID, and she goes to Corsicana sometimes when we are there. Sidney and Joe visit us at least twice a year, which is wonderful. This summer some of my Corsicana friends are coming to visit and I am really looking forward to their visit. In September, Holly and I went to my 45th reunion in Big C. What fun it was to see everyone! Everyone looked great and now I'm more homesick than ever. It was fantastic to talk to everyone. Wish I had more time to talk to everyone, because with some I didn't get to spend any or not nearly enough time. However, it is wonderful to have four of my 6 children and 6 of my grandchildren living in this area. We now have 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. I absolutely love being a grandmother. In January, I am going to volunteer at William's school which will be a lot of fun for me. He's a 2nd grader and I'll enjoy helping with reading. Several of my students from Keller, have visited me here in Florida, so I am truly blessed. Randy built me a ramp down to the water, so I can get to the water. Still hoping to walk on the beach someday, but for now it is wonderful to be on the beach. All of my grandchildren have learned to fish and are extremely proud when they bring home fish. There is nothing like eating fresh fish!! Again, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
