Warren's Story

Life I was born in Glenwood at the stone building beside the pool. . I attended grade and Highschool in Glenwood. While in school, I worked summers and weekends for Scarrow & Walker Land Surveyors. Then I moved to Gunnison, CO. to attend Western State College. I graduated with a B.A. in Business Administration and minored in Geology. After graduation I worked a year in Las Vegas, NV. to pay down my school loans. I returned to Gunnison and worked for the Gunnison County road and Bridge Dept.. Next I worked for Homestake mining co. as an equipment operator, trainer, then shift foreman. I then worked as an operator/foreman for a land development co.. Next I started my own earthmoving co., and later expanded to the aggregates business. I am currently continuing in that business. I previously partnered with my youngest son in a self serve combo carwash. I have been married since 1975 to Sally, my better half and have two sons Don and Dave. I currently split my time between Gunnison and Grand Junction. Sally is an accountant. My sons live and work in Grand Junction where I intend to spend my winters in retirement. We received a great offer on the car wash, and sold it April of 2007. I'm having fun now searching out vacation possibilities for the construction slow season. I am also minority partner with my youngest son in a small niche cardswipe software, firmware, and hardware manufacturing business. I still reside in the Gunnison area, and my son's and their families reside in the Grand Junction area. 2009 update: I am still running our earthmoving and gravel business. I have been traveling a lot during '08. I visited tucson in feb., then cruised the inside passage to Alaska via Vancouver. We traveled by train to Denali natl. Park and back to Anchorage. We visited Las Vegas in the fall for the international mine expo. We then visited central Florida and my sister for Christmas. A few more years and retirement is peeking over the horizon.I will be visiting Glenwood with my sister July 24 through 26 for her class reunion. My wife, granddaughter, youngest son Dave and his wife Jen will also attend the family weekend getaway.2010-I have always been political and involved at the State level as a voting delegate all but three times seated at the convention. I have been involved since 9-11 in the 9-12 movement, and since the beginning in the tea party movement. Next month I will again be a delegate at the state republican convention. It is time for big changes! I am looking forward to helping candidates that have integrity, know the constitution inside and out, and are God fearing leaders that believe in States rights and have the grit to say NO. The Federal government is out of control, and needs to be made accountable to it's constituents. Here's to CHANGE, back to reality! Looking forward to a more productive nation where everyone pulls their own wagon, and are self sufficient. I also support the Fair Tax, which is a consumption tax on all but necessities. Our current tax system is too polarizing. To better days, I believe the best is yet to come. Please vote in November! A good election, now the wait and positive thoughts for a better future and a thankful perspective.2012 update. I am still operating Gunnison Gravel & Earthmoving LLC..I Have decided to run for Gunnison County Commissioner for district # 2. May the best candidate win! I did not win! I am O.K. with that result. A test of faith, and a reprieve...2014 update: The election has been interesting, now we will see if my GOP has any brass, or if...Expand for more
they are part of the destruction of the Constitution. Time will tell.2016 update: Still managing G.G.& E LLC. I was again a voting delegate at the CO. Republican Assembly. Both parties disappoint me. Don't politicians read the Constitution? Hoping for a positive outcome. Not sure why there are so few positive economic solutions. Inviting Islam in seems foolish, a Trojan Horse? Nineteen trillion in debt seems unsustainable. Looking forward to another reunion! Sold permits, and all mining rights to our three quarries 11/15/2016. Still own G.G.& E. and most of our heavy equipment, and quarry processing equipment. Will decide after the first of the year if I want to dispose of more, and the tax consequences. Looking forward to more free time. Happy Thanksgiving, and Merry Christmas! Spring 2017. Just finished a 35 year high snow year! Now cleaning out van trailers at quarries, and gathering scrap iron. Time to clean up equipment, finish projects that are not complete, and prepare to sell remaining equipment. A light at the end of the tunnel. March 2018: Nice gentle Winter so far. I have sold twenty pieces of equipment and am preparing the other ten to sell in the future. Then welders pumps generators, fuel tanks etc., and life will be less complicated. I am enjoying more time with my grandchildren and antique cars, travel etc. Appointed again to go to the Republican Convention in Boulder next month. Here we go again!. Convention was good, Hope for the future. Positive party planks include Article V Convention of states, Term limits for legislators and Supreme Court judges. Simple and user friendly immigration laws that can be enforced. Harsh penalties for heroin type drug dealers etc. 9-2018: Down to 10 major pieces of heavy equipment. Sept. 2nd purchased a second home in Grand Junction, near grandchildren, and with more gentle Winters. 12/19 update:Sold two dump trucks and pup trailers this year. I also oversaw the building of a new 30x75 out-building to store my old cars etc.. I am enjoying the slower pace. Update 4/2020 Corona virus has hit hard in ski area counties. We are doing our best to enjoy being home bound. Historic event, Time will tell.. Is being compared to the 1918 Spanish Flu. Still have five major pieces of heavy equipment. Will be cleaning up any leftover spare tires, and scrap, barrels etc. this Summer. Stay well everyone! 9-27-20- Haven't been able to accomplish much this Summer do to Covid. Sold three more pieces of equipment this year, only two major pieces left. Thinning things out slowly but surely. We are well! Update 11-15-21: No shots and no covid for our family. We are well. Enjoying a wonderful Indian summer. Cleaning out storage buildings of fifty years of accumulation. It's a slow but interesting project. Hoping to complete over the next year or two. Stay well! Caught covid February 8th, 2022. I survived, and am back at it. It would be fun to have another reunion, while we still can. I know it is a lot of work for the folks who would be willing to take it on. Please let me know if it should work out. Still spliting time between Gunnison area and Grand Junction. Hope we didn't loose any to covid. Be well! It's been a great summer! I decided it was time for a solar project when natural gas price went over $9.00. We now have Generac solar, battery, and 24 KW generator. August 2013 update: I had spinal sugery early in July, and am waiting to see what improves, then knee, and shoulder surgery to keep me moving well. Enjoying my summer and Winter homes, and family!
