Life
I've ended up working in New Zealand, teaching and doing research in one of the universities in computer science. This is a bit of a problem as my husband lives and works in the US, but then again he's a sailor so it's not likely that I'd get to see much of him even if I were back at home in Louisiana! My big interests are still reading (of course), and I've figured out how to work in a computer science department but mainly follow my original interests in history and anthropology. My other big hobby, shopping, is somewhat stymied in NZ--I've bought everything there is to buy here, and have to wait for opportunities to escape to the US, Singapore, or elsewhere in the region to really cut loose with the credit cards and have a good retail experience. NZ is a beautiful country with a small population; I think I'm the only Sally Jo here, and it's hilarious how everyone who has lived here more than 20 years either knows everyone else or is related to them somehow.
