Sally's Story

I have many goals and many things I still want to do in this lifetime as I'm sure you do as well! We continue to learn new things all the time, and whenever one door closes another will always open. My faith is strong, and helps me to see things in a new perspective rather than thinking that I have all the answers myself! I have served our country in the military, and am a veteran. But, in joining the military right after graduation of high school, I lost touch with most in my class of 1978. Once you get into the military, those people you work with, become your new family while away from your blood family. I have even lost contact with many of those folks too. now since being a civilian again and moving cross country- Louisiana-Washington, Michigan, North Carolina, to Texas!! Living all around is different in cultures, foods, and customs! People are generally kind, willing to help you, and easy-going in most places however in Texas schools do not provide drivers training like I went through in Michigan as a 15 year old. Here you can drive with a parent or other adult who signs off on your card which you submit to the DMV, take your written test, and start driving! The driving abilities I have seen do differ by state. So be careful out there! Enjoy life, have Faith! Love your family and friends, give comfort to those in need!! Married while in the Air Force, divorced after 7 years together, starting over sort of can single you out and some will label you a "failure". But that's okay, because I know who I am, who and what mistakes I've made and been forgiven for, and that life is a journey designed to teach us new things, every day, until we pass from this life, into our heavenly reward. Some judge others when we should not for all are human and all make mistakes. I have forgiven those who used to try causing me grief in school (you know who you are), and am no longer bothered by the “little things”. We control what we allow to influence our lives! Let us be influenced by positivity-by our words, actions, and deeds on a daily basis! Some say I should be a motivational speaker. I try to look at the bright side in any situation, even those you would find "unfavorable", because it just isn't worth it to worry and grumble and fret about things you cannot change. There are plenty of books available for self-help, and one day I do plan to write a book about the events of my lifetime, but not necessarily an autobiography. I have always liked and enjoyed working with people, and animals. Gaining trust, is a valuable and cherished thing, that is not to be wasted. To be blamed for things outside of your control only hurts you if you let it. I believe I will continue to live life as best I can, making good decisions and helping others whenever I am able! Magic, my TWH gelding, is now 20ish years old, trained by Clinton Anderson's clinician in the beginning and some intermediate methods through planned and professional training and coursework. He is amazing, beautiful, and although I c...Expand for more
annot ride, due to my back injury in 2007, I was working him on the ground. Magic isn’t afraid of wheelchairs. It astounds me how smart he really is, and how just giving him a very subtle aid to do something, works, and he never misses my signals! Horse agility is up and coming as a sport and I imagine we will see it in the Olympics one day. Update: Magic went back to the stable owner through no fault of his own. He is still at his forever home, gets treats and all those things horses really enjoy! Magic is a purebred Tennessee Walking Horse, which with him, is very natural in seeing his five gaits! The stable owners Mark Mulligan and their grandson was interested in Magic as Magic fell back into the stable owners hands. I pray for the best for Magic as he is a really good boy. The stable owner is a really awesome guy and wife team. During the 20+ years I have known him, he has always been kind and takes excellent care of any horse on his property whether his own or a boarder’s horse. I never had to worry about anything knowing my horses were in such great hands. The owner takes great care of Magic and has a beautiful ranch facility with a well lighted enclosed covered arena, an outdoor 20 meter enclosed circle lit arena, and fields to ride in if chosen. I pray Magic has a continued great life and that I will see him one day in my future! It is my hope and dream for my big guy, that he gets ridden with someone who can ride and be his best friend! Although he is still at his same stable for now, I had some falls that progressed my back injury symptoms along with a work kicking injury that affected working with my sweet boy. I know he will be a good companion to his new owner. and have many years together to have miles in the saddle! My life, after a back injury in 2007, is not going to keep or hold me down! Although sometimes life can throw you a curve ball, this injury slowed me down and has put me in my wheelchair. I refuse to believe life is over because of a wheelchair! Someday maybe I will have the opportunity to have another horse and maybe even be around to see that horse only a month or so of age, as I was for Magic! No one knows our end time, so live life everyday being choosy what you do with it! Never let anyone put words in your mouth, because no one knows your future, here on earth!! We choose daily what kind of day we will have, and then whether things that occur influence our decision or cause us to change our minds, and "ruin" or "bless" our days. I believe we have great lives planned out for us, and yes, sometimes bad things do happen, but you again have a choice to make, whether that bad thing influences you in a negative way, or will you choose to use it in a positive way! I hope we all keep each other in mind, even though we have not connected since high school, life involves all of us, working all over the place, and together we make decisions every day, that influence our futures. Let's do this together and keep things positive by word, action, and deed! Sally
