Sally's Story
I am in my seventh year (seems like only yesterday) of joyfully rediscovering life in the open spaces after 20+ years of life in the big cities. This includes fossils, birds, quilts, endless horizons, and small buildings bearing silent witness to it all.
I've been working in museums and museum management since college, and that's taken me to Austin, both coasts (San Diego and Washington, DC) and England. It's been more fun than should be legal. I swapped the East Coast for the Northern Plains 7 years ago, and I'm loving the people, the landscapes and everything ...Expand for more
else. Rapid City is at the northern end of the same aquifer that underlies Lubbock, so I feel connected.
To get into the museum field, I actually came back to Lubbock for the MA program in museum science at Texas Tech. It's the best in the country, and don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise. Everything I do today has spun off those few years at the TTU Museum. I teach museum management and exhibits planning classes at the university level, serve on the local historic preservation commission, and work with our Lakota colleagues on tribal collections issues.
