Salwyn's Story
Life
My name is Salwyn "Pip" Parker and I am from Plant City, Florida. I was the 4th of 6 siblings. In High School I held the 300 meter hurdle record and the Cross Country record. I attended Campbell University in North Carolina,on a Track and Field Scholarship, where I decided to go into ROTC. During that summer of 84, I won a ROTC Scholarship,also. During my senior year, I achieved first team NCAA Division II All-America in the 400-meter hurdles. Upon graduation with a bachelor degree in Business with concentration in Computer Science, I was commissioned into the US Army as an 2nd Lieutenant. I try out for the All-Army Track and Field Team and made in 1988. I was ranked # 4 in the country in the 400 meter hurdles. mander of a maintenance company. After that point, I decided to leave the service and pursue another career path. I wanted a position where I would have some flexibility, make an comfortable income, and have some time to spend with my family, now wife (Patricia) and three kids(Darnell Tarah and Ebony). That is one of the main reasons, I joined the this great Insurance team. I was an agent for about 7 years, and loving it. I was promoted to the management team as the Training Supervisor. 2 years later promoted to Sales Development Manager. 6 years later promoted to Agency Standards Officer. And now I currently a Partner for a Fortune 100 company, in Texas.
I always wanted to be a leader when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a ambitious and out going. As it turns out, they were right.
