Sam's Story
graduated coalinga high in 96, left to go to college 3000 miles away, graduated cornell university in 00 with a bachelor of science in mechanical and aerospace engineering. knew i wanted to get back to CA. graduated from stanford university in 02 with my master of science in aeronautics and astronautics engineering. worked in the field of engineering for a while and got to do some interesting stuff (including working on the last two mars rover missions, something i have done is on another planet!). but despite the interesting things here and there i decided i didn't want to be an engineer for the rest of my life, so i quit, moved to bakersfield where my best friend was living. i was a manager for his band, put on shows, managed other bands, managed a music venue... had fun. in the meantime i realized i wanted to be a high school math teacher and met my wife, dianna. we got married in santa barbara and moved to san...Expand for more
luis obispo, where i went back for more school and got my teaching credential (essentially like another masters degree) and started teaching full-time three years ago at arroyo grande high school. so basically, i have been a student most of the time since graduating and now i am a teacher, so i am still on the student schedule (summers off and lots of other time off and getting paid half as much as i did as an engineer, but have no regrets since i am doing exactly what i want to be doing). been married for 4 years, bought a house last year, and i will be having my first daughter, Emery, in august 08. i have also more recently embraced my love of running again (did cross country and long distance track in high school) and i am now running marathons. did my first less than a year ago and am currently training for my 3rd. also enjoy traveling, photography, mountain biking, independent films, hanging out with friends.
