Samuel's Story
Life
After Evander I took a job as an installer in midtown for the old New York Telephone Company, whose parent was AT&T. By the time the year of 2000 came around, and AT&T made me an offer I couldn't refuse, I retired having completed 34 years with them. Took 1 1/2 years off, was hired by a Telecom company in Bayside Queens in late 2001, they downsized me in Feb 2003, and now I'm just enjoying a no pressure part time job and a no pressure life. I enjoy working around the house, and working on and driving a car that I've wanted since I saw it new, and purchased in 2002..a 1966 Corvette Sting Ray Convertible, and listening to Old Rock and Roll. I am still happily married to the former Dene Ligon who I met in the spring of 1966 in Mr. Singer's English Class. We have two beautiful daughters who are my heroines in this life. Who says there are no more heros?
School
Started school in Winston-Salem, NC, public school grades 1-3, Catholic school grades 4-6, then to New York and public schools grades 7-12. I never really liked school, just enjoyed the friendships of classmates. I really struggled to graduate on time. So, I never had a desire to go on to college. To this day I'm still not sorry. Schools and me just don't mix.

e New York Telephone Company as an Installer in the east 50's in Manhattan from September 1966 until the divestiture of AT&T at the end of 1983. At that point I stayed with the parent company AT&T and worked as a Systems Technician in the same area until January of 1988 when I took an inside job for AT&T in White Plains. Became a Communications Technician for AT&T in 1990 and was as such until May of 2000 when I retired. After a year and a half of "pre retirement" as I call it, a company in Bayside, Queens hired me as a Telecom Technician. They downsized me on Feb 28, 2003. Now I'm working part time for friends that own a local shop in my neighborhood.
