Samuel's Story

Life What about my new One Series convertible? Well fact of the matter is that I work for BMW Manufacturing Co. in Greer,SC. At this Plant, we build the X5 SUV and X6 SUV , and we are currently in our new $850 million Plant expansion a new Assembly line. I never dreamed that I would be working for a world class automaker such as BMW, but I have been here for 12 years now. I started out on the Assembly floor as a door-line assembler, and moved to an offline production support job in just a few months. Then in 2001 I was asked to join in on a launch team to help build and teach others to build the new Z4 that would replace the current Z3 roadster that we were building at the time. In 2005, it was time to replace the design of the old X5 and once again I was chosen to join in on a launch team that was sent to Munich Germany to build a certain amount of test vehicles that would go into production a year later. At the end of that successful launch, our launch team merged with a New Model Team, and another variant of the SUV was being worked on in 2006. So...Expand for more
, back to Germany for another 7 weeks to help in the building of training of and the development of this new vehicle that launched at our plant the following year. The in 2008, back to Germany once again for a different project. Currently, in production of a new project which launched yet another vehicle which was seen in 2010, the X3. When I went to Tampa Tech back in the early 70's, I never even heard of a BMW, and now they are a real contender for the world's best luxury car market. BMW also owns Mini Cooper, and has the rights to Rolls Royce. Work is not my whole life though, I am married to a wonderful woman named Gail from SC. We enjoy going to Jazz on Main Street downtown Greenville,SC on Friday nights. We still love the beach although we live 4 1/2 hours from it, Myrtle Beach,SC. I still throw the frisbee like I was a teenager, I enjoy playing tennis a couple times a week. We go to movies, work on various projects for her class room where my wife teaches, attend church regularly. And we have four children between the ages of 23-30..
