Sandra's Story
After high school, I attended nursing school here in town for a short time, didn't care fot it and went on to Cleveland State to study journalism/mass communications. I never did complete my bachelor's (oh well)....I've been working as an administrative assistant/medical secretary for a total of 38 yrs at 3 major medical centers here in town. My work has been interesting - supporting division chiefs and section heads (cardiology, cardiac surgery and vascular surgery), working on research papers and fellowship training programs, amongst other duties. My work has enabled me to meet people from all over the world and enlighten me regarding the varying cultures (their way of life, language, food, traditions, perspective on the world). r years after having discovered our mother was adopted - thus bringing some rather interesting elements into the picture regarding our heritage (she was partially Algonquin Indian, Hungarian and the daughter of a Hollywood movie producer). There is much more to her background, which is fascinating and we do hope to eventually write and publish a story. Along the way, I've run a medical transcription business from my home, traveled somewhat (US, Canada, Carribean)and had been active in several fund raising organizations. My future life will encompass being with my husband (a New York native), retiring within several years, spending time with my step children, traveling, perhaps starting a business, becoming involved in new hobbies and relocating in the not too distant future to a warmer climate.
