Sandra's Story
Life
After graduation from Franklin High School in 1968, I went to Allegheny College in Meadville until 1972 majoring in math and computer science. But when I graduated I chose a job at Polk Center instead of the other job offer I had for a computer programmer at the Pentagon. Can you imagine where I could be today if I had taken that programmer job in 1972? But, I had worked at Polk all summers while in college and had met the man I was to marry, Bob Barnes (FHS 1959). day I went back to work after maternity leave. Life has been interesting as a paraplegic using a wheelchair. I returned to school and got a master's degree in clinical psychology from Edinboro University. I also did graduate work at Fuller Theological Seminary. So even though I am a clinical psychologist, I have chosen to work as a Christian counselor and/or a pastor's assistant.
My husband died unexpectely in October 2002. I relocated to Huntersville NC, near my daughter and my grandson, Nolan, born 2003. I am joyfully "employed" now as a full time granny nanny. I also continue doing counseling part time.
