Sandra's Story
Life
I'm the youngest of 7. Pretty much born and raised a Base Brat in Petawawa.
Most of our friends moved while we stayed, so the memory has faded over the years. But many friends still stand out for me, from K- gr 8.
In '77 dad got posted to Trenton for his last two yrs of his career.
We lived on the south side. and bussed to Bayside HS. Only once did we lose a wheel off the bus, a monday 13th. i don't like monday 13th anymore. Joined Air Cadets and learned how to do drill and shoot. fun.
After 2yrs we moved to a rented old farm house outside Trenton, so school was Brighten HS..then back into Trenton..attend Trenton HS...I spent two weeks of my french class in the girls bathroom.
12 June 1980, my brother Tim died, prompting the decision for my parents to move to Comox, BC.
New School, new friends. I joined the C Scot R, as a clerk(not a good one either)
I Graduated in '81...and left for Nanaimo, meeting more friends, good memories, but the names are gone.
I joined the Reg in '83, Cornwallis, Borden , Chilliwack..I became a Driver. I bought my first car..7...Expand for more
5 Mustang, damn I miss that car.
After being drunk for 4yrs. I smartened up, got married(duh)Sold my mustang (STUPID!!)got out of the military in '87.
Changed my name to Drover,had two beautiful boys, I needed a job, so I drove Taxi, that was a hoot!
Hubby got posted to Cold Lake, so off we go.
Spent 10 yrs there, working odd jobs, part time driver for the base.
Divorced in '00. Changed my name back to Davenport. Bought a motorcycle.Met a wonderful man, Mech.(perfect)fixed motorcycle.
We moved to Petawawa (again). I re-joined the Regs, and here I am, working with the RCD's.
And now it is 2004., and we're posted to ASU Chilliwack, BC. I seem to be going in circles.
To all the people, I've met over the years, some have become close friends, that i will never forget, others have faded over time( but you can refresh my memory) I want to tell you, you have all made a difference in my life and helped me to become who I am today. Thank you!!!
For those that remember me, I still draw and paint when I have time.
Of all the things I miss, I miss my mind the most.
