Sandra's Story
Life
After graduation, I spent the first part of my adult life as a single mother of six children, three daughters and three sons. I finally was able to resume my education at the age of 45. Three classes short of my degree, I interrupted my education once more to take on the task of home schooling my two youngest boys through middle school. My kids are all grown now, and have blessed me with fourteen grandchildren (six boys, six girls) and eighteen great-grands, (nine boys, nine girls). I do like balance.
I spent 5 years in San Diego where I returned to real estate and remarried after being divorced. In 2002, I moved to fourteen acres in the middle of the Tahoe National Forest. Although it was beautiful and peaceful, living in the forest was a little too isolated for me. School
I assume we're supposed to write about our high school experiences. I have a lot of good memories of high school. I wasn't popular, but I had a few good friends: Christy Lund, Nancy Leavitt, Carol Gury and Patty Tilson. I have been told recently that a lot of the kids thought I was "stuck up". How sad! Actually I was painfully shy. In fact, I think sometimes I over compensated with a giggly and "silly" exterior. I eventually overcame my insecurities, became comfortable in my own skin, and developed into a self-assured, self-confident adult. I like my age now and wouldn't go back to those insecure years if I could. Oh, and for those that remember my crush on Bob Kiger. He and I crossed paths again in 1997 and were together for a couple of years. It was interesting.
