Sandra's Story
Hello everyone! I graduated from NCSU in 1995 with a degree in Aerospace Engineering and again in 1997 with a Master's degree in the same field. I also got married in 1997 to my best friend Jonas whom I met at State (go Pack!). I worked for Lockheed Martin as an engineer for 2.5 years in the DC area. Jonas and I then left the city and moved to the wonderful tiny town of Bowling Green, Virginia. relocated to Blacksburg, Virginia in 2005. There I worked as a Research Engineer for a small consulting company called Techsburg doing a lot of CFD work for turbomachinery-related applications.
Remembering all the amazing teachers that influenced me along the way, I have now opted for a change in career in order to pay it forward. I am teaching mathematics at a STEM-based middle school in Western North Carolina. I never imagined I would love working with these kids as much as I do!
