Sandra's Story
Workplace
Upon graduation in 1968, I became a waitress in Seaside through the summer. In the fall, I was married to Ron Welch and worked at the Washington Grade School in Vernonia as well as at Keasey's Saw Shop as a bookkeeper. Although the jobs changed, I kept working through the school district as a secretary or teacher's aide.

years. We lived in Beaverton from 1974-1979 then returned to Vernonia. I've enjoyed home schooling our last two children. Now that our youngest, Nic, is fifteen we've enrolled him in Vernonia High School.
I returned to work in 2001, becoming the director of our local food bank, Vernonia Cares. I've enjoyed my blend of work life and home life and am thankful for both.
