Sandra's Story
Life
Greetings from beautiful San Diego! I moved here w/ a few friends after graduation. I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do - just go to CA and go to college somewhere. Eventually I went to San Diego State and majored in music. Held a series of jobs, including dishwasher and waitress, but my eventual involvement in tutoring and music coaching led me into teaching - a path I had not really ever considered. I've been teaching music as an orchestra specialist in a district near the Mexican border for 16 years. I was lucky to get a chance to teach in a more affluent district a few years ago, but got laid off last year due to budget cuts, so then I had to go back about 3 miles from the border. Bummer! In 2004 I got a job teaching string instruments for San Diego City Schools and I like it. Now I teach in elementary school and the kids are so cute - even if they sound like beginners.
In college I got real into "early music" and that has been one focus in my life. I play many old instruments and have been in several Renaissance and Baroque music groups. Currently I'm in a group called Courtly Noyse. I went back to school and got a master's degree in Viola da Gamba performance. Through a boyfriend I got introduced to Cajun/Zydeco music and dance in 1997.

st 9 years. I also play in a Cajun/Country all girl band called "Judy Taylor's Wild Oats. All these groups are google-able.
I live alone (well, w/ 2 cats) in a house about 6 miles from the ocean in the Clairemont section of town. I upgraded from my beach condo but now I wish was back there.
I haven't done too well at relationships, so though I've learned a lot, I'm still single. Never married, no kids. I am hoping that isn't my permanent condition, but may have to accept that as my fate. I have been in a ten year relationship but we're both commitmentphobes.
I do have a pretty full and busy life, at least. I enjoy travel, which I do a lot since I have friends all over the US and my sister is still in Chicago. And Vegas is only a 5 hour drive away...
I went to the 20 year reunion and, though I was bummed that so many people I wanted to see didn't come, I had a pretty good time. The committee never did send me the 10 or the 20 year books I purchased! I don't know what happened to everyone! It is so interesting to find out what has happened to everyone from Holmes school class of 75, and to those I knew in that huge high school. If you are coming to San Diego and would like to contact me, please do. I'm listed in the SD phone book.
PS: by the way, I still can do the darn hula hoops! I bought some after 25 years of not doing it and I'll be..., it came right back, only now w/ muscles ache!
