Sandy's Story
Life
My Job - My husband has left the pastorate after 30 years, so I now have time for a full-time job (I had worked as a substitute teacher since my kids started school). My certification needs to be updated if I wish to teach full-time (and at my age I'm not at all certain I want to begin again!), so I am working as a paraprofessional at a Title I elementary school here in Hagerstown. I work mainly with 4th & 5th graders, and also spend a little time in kindergarten and lifeskills. These kids are mostly from poverty-stricken homes and have so much love to give. Love it every day!!!
fun - Well, Bruce is retired, so he helps a lot at home. I'm usually beat when I get home from school, so weeknights are usually dinner & TV. We enjoy dining out, day trips to Lancaster or Gettysburg, movies, live theater, and the Maryland Symphony Orchestra. As always, we're active in our church, and also like to just "chill" at home, watch TV, play ...Expand for more

family - We are empty-nesters. Our daughter Julie has a successful career in computers--as a systems designer she designed most of the stuff for gamecrazy.com and lots for Hollywood Video, to name a couple familiar businesses. She's now employed by the city of Seattle doing much the same thing. Our son Jeff is a very talented artist. He used his degree in graphic design working in design and advertising for several years. Tired of sitting in a cubical all day, he made a career change about six years ago and is now doing a bang-up job teaching 6th grade in California --- says he knows all the "tricks" because he used them himself when he was in school! :-) (Ahh, 4th grade! Mrs. Shepherd is the only teacher who ever paddled me!!!)
I guess my fondest memories of WHS would have to include cadets and chorus. Still have lots of Girl Scout memories from younger days. I'd love to hear from some of my old classmates!!
