Sandy's Story
Life
My Spouse
In a bar!
My Job
I'm retired from my 9-5 but started my own jewelry design business, Organ Mountain Beadwork. Before that, I worked for a aviation technology consulting firm that develops high tech systems solutions based on ops research, math, physics, etc. I managed operations support and training activities and was a program manager for our emerging air traffic management effort.
Spouse
I met my best friend, soulmate and husband almost 27 years ago in a bar at a teacher's happy hour and we've been happy ever since.
College
After part time classes at Army education centers in Italy and Germany, I went to UMD in Munich and then finished my BS in Math with 3 years at CSU graduating in '79. I got my MS in Information Systems Technology at George Washington University in Washington DC in 1991.
Workplace

ld spend time with me during the week was to grade papers, I decided I should look for something else. I casually mentioned to a fellow teacher that I was interested in a software development job - for experience in the real world so I could come back and teach computer science. She passed my resume on to a bridge playing friend and the next thing I knew, I was working for CSC! When the contract I was working on went elsewhere, so did I, to Center for Naval Analysis to do software development and, you guessed it, technical training. I stayed there for 10.5 years and got to do lots of neat stuff. When I finally got bored, I went to work with some former CNAers and that's how I got into the aviation industry. I've started out doing mostly training but eventually got into management - ugh! When I stopped having fun, I retired in NM, near my husband's family and started a jewelry design business. I sell my creations at the Farmers' and Craft Market, local arts and craft shows and on the internet.
