Sandy's Story
Where I have lived, marriage and kids-
From Richland I moved to Oklahoma and lived with my Grandparents for a year. My parents relocated to the Olympic Peninsula where I rejoined them and pretty much stayed as a young adult. I married at 19 for the next 10 years and have 2 boys- Brian and David. I remarried a couple years later to Bill (still married) and have a daughter, Aloma. We lived in Neah Bay for a year then went to Michigan for 10 years. We have been back in Sequim almost a year. I am definitely an Olympic Peninsula gal. I love the mild climate, rain, all the wildlife and the different terrains of this region.
Work- I have had two favorite jobs. I worked at a place for 9 years that made smoked products- salmon, oysters, game hen, turkey, ribs, etc.- and also smoked stuff customers brought in. It was retail, wholesale, and mailorder. I had a huge variety of tasks and was pretty much in charge of myself. I really loved the customers. In Michigan I worked at a group home for behaviorally developmentally disabled. Afte...Expand for more
r a couple of years I got to be the program coordinator and worked closely with the clinical staff, did a lot of training our staff and stuff like schedules and payroll. The people that live there are exceptional and I felt extremely lucky to get to know them and live life with them- they were my MI family. I had a lot of personal growth at that job, things that have strenghened and eased the rest of my life. So now I am working for my dad. It is a super mellow sometimes monotonous job but it enables my parents to leave their business to travel and know they can trust the person handling stuff while they are gone. It is managing a bunch (26) of small water systems including one my parents own.
They say that women in their 40's start discovering confidence and strength and serenity they may not have had in younger years. I find that to be true of my life. I had difficulties as a younger person- a lot of drama of which much was my own making haha. But I can do life with more grace and less chaos more often and that is so wonderful!
