Sandy's Story

Life (don't remember when I wrote this - see 2008 update at bottom) Hello Friend, I've lived most of my life in Webster Groves, except for a summer I lived in St. Charles & any free time I could spend at the Farm 75 miles away. Between the Farm out in the Country & my Webster Groves home in St. Louis County, I feel I have the best of both worlds. I was a girl scout from Brownies to Senior Girl Scouts. I was one of the 1st 8 in our district to acheive that Girl Scout Gold Award. Which is supost to be the girl scout version of the boy scout eagle. I was in the Webster Groves School District from Kindergarden at Goodall, Hixson Jr High to graduating from Webster Groves High School. I then attended St. Louis Community College at Meramec, back when the 1st computer class was still on punch cards. I went back to Meramec some years later & got a Certificate in Microcomputer Programming & Applications. That is were I met my ex-husband. As far as my ex-husband & our marriage is concerned. There is a saying: Do not walk in front of me I may not follow. Do not walk behind me I may not lead. Walk beside me & be my friend. My friends & family know the whole story. But to be nice, lets just say I was not a good follower. I worked one summer in St. Charles at Rental Center, which was seasonal. Then I worked for Truss Components as an Accounting Clerk when they were in St. Louis County. In a short time after that I went to work for Anthony Badalamenti, CPA as a Data Processing Manager. It was bought by Tim Marshall & became Badalamenti & Marshall, CPAS for the remainder of my time there. Due to downsizing my last year was spent as the Secretary, until Mr. Marshall had everything complete as he needed it to be. Both Mr. Marshall & Mr. Badalamenti gave me wonderful recomendations. Before I left there I accepted a job as a Payroll Processor for Payroll Plus, which has since when out of business I believe. The bosses wife was laid off from her job & came to work for her husband. I was the last hired so I was the 1st to go went they started to make changes. Two weeks later I was hired by Davlan Engineering as an Accounting Clerk helping with the books of 3 companies. I have seen a lot of changes since I was hired there. All 3 companies were on DOS based systems when I was 1st hired. By 2000 they were on a really nice window based system, which made the accounting so much easier. It also lessen the need for a 3rd person in the accounting department. So wh...Expand for more
en an opening came up at a sister company now called Carr Lane Castings they gave me the opertunity to be the Office Manager there. Now I am 10 minutes from home. Nice commute! My Dad passed away on my 23rd birthday. I still miss him very much. I am blessed to still have my mother, who is currently living on the farm she grew up on. I still enjoy spending time on the old farm as much as possible. I have always enjoyed the animals on the farm. For me that is GOD's country. Mom & I have an almost 20 year old cat name Smokie, a 2 year old Sheltie name Daisy & a few spoiled chickens. I also have a great nephew & great niece in that area, both who I enjoy spending time with. Thank GOD for good friends. I have a trusted friend name John, who has been a big help since Mom's heart attack June of 2005. He comes by & sometimes stays at the house in a spare room to take care of my cat & things around the house when I am up helping Mom at the farm. But we are just friends. He is 10 yrs older than me & smokes. There are times when I have trouble breathing around smokers &/or where they have smoked. So that tells you a thing or 2 about me. In short life is a roller coaster. So hold on & try to enjoy the ride. And GOD BLESS YOU! Sincerely, Sandy Reid Feb 2008 update {Forgot to tell you before the place I live in WG is the same home I grew up in.} I am still at the same job. Mom just turned 78 this month. My great niece will be 4 this month & her brother is now 7 1/2. We still have spoiled chickens at the farm. In 2006 Mom's old long hair cat Smokie has passed way. Our Dog Daisy learned a bad habit from Smokie to tap/slap (in Daisy's case slap) a person with her paw to get attention. Daisy goes almost everywhere with Mom. Her favorite place to go is church & she never misses unless we make her stay because we know we will be gone too long. My yellow cat also loves attention, almost more than being fed. My friend John is buying a house in St. Louis County. So I am sure he probably won't be around as much now that he will have his own home to tinker with (other than dropping by to feed the my cat when needed). I've been visit with a good friend about once a week, sometimes working out with her & one of her sons. I have become a little more active in my WG church. The people there are wonderful. That is pretty much all the update I have. Kind of boring huh! Right now money is tight, so I can't afford any extras like becoming a gold member. Sandy 2008
