Sandy 's Story

Life I grew up in Rochester NY and claimed the street lights as one of my highest reachable goals (in the winter of course when the alternate parking rule was in force)! : ) I attended Francis Parker #23 Elementary - moved on to Monroe HS in 8th; and transferred to East HS for 9-12th. After I graduated in 74, I got a job at Security Trust. But I left that good job for a "southern" boy, moved to Asheville, NC and married in 1980. It was also in NC where the real "Man of my dreams" found ME...Jesus! I embraced Him; and he became my God. My husband Steve, died in the year 2000 but we had 20 years together, and a beautiful, talented daughter. The "Man of my dreams" is still with me! He took care of me through it all. I am not only a "southern" girl, but a Christian girl; and now remarried to a wonderful "Christian" man (7/18/04). Life is always full of Peace when the Man of your dreams is JESUS CHRIST! The world did not satisfy the longing in my heart-put there by God-- and satisfied only by God. His irresistable message was that HE was "The Way, the Truth and the Life" and that no one could come to the Father except by HIM. I found that the best of life and the worst of life is the same with when you are in Him! He promised He would never leave me or forsake me! Classmates may be one way to prepare for a reunion. I missed our HS reunion, but A Greater Reunion is coming! I'm not going to miss that one! Will you be there? If you've been disappointed in life - perhaps you need to meet the "Man of your dreams". His name is Jesus! School Walking to school....remember those days? First it was Francis Parker #23 school, just down Milburn St. I remember kickball at recess and collect...Expand for more
ing acorns at the playground. I remember my 1st gr. teacher, Miss D'manda? and her red shoes and the gym teacher who blew bubbles down the stairwell. We graduated in 7th gr. to go to high school at Monroe. We still walked, even though it was atleast 1 1/2 miles. The exercise did us good, and we picked up friends all along the way! The schools were combining blacks and whites at that time, and some didn't like it very well. There were a lot of challenges; and I changed schools and started to attend East High. I was more interested in a boy named "Angel" at the time, so didn't get as involved as I could have! The "Red Barn" was our favorite meeting spot, as well as the nearby bakery and "Carvels". From HS Annex, I graduated in the summer of 74, and then went to MCC to get my AAS in Exec. Secretarial Science. I worked a few years in Rochester and then moved to NC. to marry a "southern" boy. Sorry folks - I love it down south now...and I give my snowy inheritance back to you. Wouldn't trade the Smoky Mountains for anything! This is God's country...and where education truly began for ME! Workplace Started a new job as Administrative Assistant to the General Manager at a radio station in Charlotte! This is another new job for me in Charlotte! I've been there six months now...and have found it delightful! The Manager is over a Christian radio network of several stations as well as MIX106.1 (oldies)! Meeting new people, interacting with the agencies for today's top Bible programs, giving away tickets "to the 3rd caller" and learning about Radio are some of the perks of my job! It's 8 mins. from home too...an answer to prayer! That's kind of important when you live in Charlotte! : )
