Sara's Story
Life
After graduating from ISU I spent time experiencing different jobs in various states: Iowa, Georgia, Alaska, Utah, and South Carolina. In 1995 I met Donald (in Utah) and got engaged. We moved to Orlando,FL shortly before our wedding in 1996. In 1997 we moved to South Carolina. Don worked at the Parris Island Marine Recruit Depot and I raised monkeys. Finally in 1999 we settled in Pensacola, Florida! (Don's hometown!) I have worked for the University of Florida as a teaching assistant/researcher in the forestry department, but am now employed by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection for their state-wide Dea...Expand for more
dhead Logging Program. Deadheads are logs that were felled 1880's-1930's and floated down rivers but sunk to the bottom before getting to the sawmills. Loggers are now retrieving these beautiful logs for many woodworking projects. I spend my workdays cruising the Florida rivers looking for environmental problems or illegal retrieval of these logs. I get to be up close and personal with birds, turtles, snakes, alligators, manatees and sturgeon!! I have 2 beautiful children: Morgan (2001)& Jake (2004), 2 canine and 2 feline. In June 2007 Don and I divorced after 10 years of marriage. Now it is time for me to find a new life!
