Sarah's Story

Right now I am living in Cooperstown, NY. Cooperstown is a busy place in the Summer. We have a Field of Dreams and kids come from all different states to play in baseball tournaments. Then we have the Baseball Hall of Fame right in town and a Farmers Museum and the James Fenimore Cooper Museum just up the road. One day I was asked to help out with dressing people who were in the Opera, and I did that for about 10 years, and it was a lot of fun. At that time they held the Opera in the High School Auditorium, and we were able to watch dress rehersals. Now they have built an Opera House on Otsego Lake, and as they have parties and things, if I'm asked, I help out with that. I'm not an "Opera Buff", but I do like to go to the Opera, at least once a Summer, but that doesn't happen every year. I used to play bridge ...Expand for more
with a group in Waterloo, and then when we moved to Fairport, NY in l970, I played in a "Newcomers" Group, and even played duplicate. Since we moved to Cooperstown, I haven't played much, but did go to Oneonta, which is about 22 miles from here and played a few times. I retired in l998, and took my daughter, Nancy, with me and we went to Paris, France, and then to Germany to visit my son Andy, his wife Cara and their son, Harrison, and daughter, Hannah. Nancy had studied in Paris so she knew her way around, and we had a nice time and a great visit with Andy and he showed us around Germany. He was a Major in the US Army, but they decided to come back to the States, and he is now working in Washington, DC at the Pentagon. I think I have written quite a story, so if anyone wants to write to me I'd welcome that.
