A 'story', huh? Share what I've been up to? Why not. Since my celebrated departure from Silver Lake back in 1994 I have went on to other schools with a much higher degree of success in social scenes. After several years of traveling the country and spending time assisting with different causes (including volunteering for Natural Disaster Aids, Health Awareness Programs and assisting States in gaining access to ASPCA attention, etc.), I am currently residing in the South and beginning my career with a Fortune 500 company. Does any of that make me better than the next person on the street, not really. I do however, believe it to be a few steps ahead of what many of you thought possible for such a 'nerd' like myself. While I approach my 33rd birthday in the Fall, I look back and I am proud of the person I have become. I am without children and husband, but still in the throes of love with my long-time boyfriend and extremely tight-knit with my mother. I couldn't help stopping a sarcastic, if not cynical laugh at the statement "Remind them who you are". That's the easiest thing to do as many of you will remember me as the poor girl from the country who you teased and tormented daily during the school years I was there. The girl whose hair was cut in class, beat up by a High School student she didn't know in the hallway, while none of you present offered assistance. I don't remember any of you caring that in that attack I received a black eye, a skull fracture and two broken ribs and three days of In-School suspension. Or how about the girl whose 5th Grade teacher had her write on the chalk board a statement regarding her mother's inability to afford gym shoes, ...Expand for more
