Sarah's Story

Life Artist/Owner/Proprietor of Primrose Path Properties/guest cottages accommodations/Down the Primrose Path~Artist Studio. After living many bachlorette years on the upper West Side of Manhattan - working and going to school in NYC, I moved west on a whim 36+ years ago. Jumping from one island to another, I have lived the idyllic life on Whidbey Island - living by the water on several acres..I live on a wonderful island N of Seattle --miles away in distance and comparison to Long Island~! This semi-rural island is a little wrinkle in the fabric of time, with an eclectic array of artisans and free-spirits. I spend my *free time* doing art, volunteering and walking my beautiful beach to get the creative juices flowing. Over the years I feel I have been very blessed to have had a strong connection to my community and have been involved with the infrastructure of my environs. My community is my family --with tons of love and support! I landed in a good place and couldn't ask for more nurturing from my neighbors and extended "family". For not knowing a soul when I first came out here over two decades ago, I have managed to piece together an involved & meaningful life. I have owned and managed guest accommodations (Whidbey Island is often called the "West Coast Martha's Vineyard"), having started my business from scratch 28+ years ago with one guest cottage, and building my portfolio up to a high point of six. As of the Beginning of 2021, I am happily retired. I have spent the majority of these p...Expand for more
ast several decades raising my son Landon --a fine man who is very much his own person. I am a travel bug and have done many road trips with my family. I have traveled throughout Canada, Vancouver Island, all throughout the southwest, California, Mexico and all up and down the eastern seaboard. I've gone across the pond to England, Wales, Scotland & Norway. Covid has definitely gotten in the way, but I do hope to travel more & soon. Music is another pulse in my life -- I play the guitar and sing --sometimes solo, sometimes with friends and sometimes with my son, who is a budding musician himself. My tastes are varied and often dependent on whim & mood, but folk, international and jazz are particular favorites of the moment. My hobbies include gardening, reading, volunteering and kayaking. I do lots of volunteer projects in my community and am a board member of my local Food Bank: Good Cheer. . Home improvement projects are also big on my list, since I have an older home and it screams for my attention! After many years (23!) of marriage, my ex-husband & I parted ways in 2008. People change -- and we left as good partners. My ex unfortunately died suddenly in 2018, which greatly effected my son. I have lived here at our Redwood Retreat these last 13 years with my partner Russell, a singer / songwriter from Texas. How we met is a whole other story...but it goes back around 45 years. He is an amazing man who tirelessly puts up with me. Ah --but I in turn do the same for him! ;-)
