Sarah's Story

So, after Bracken I moved to Houston and attended Houston Baptist University until I joined the Army Reserve after my sophomore year. Yes, that's right, drop and do push-ups, blah, blah, blah. Got back after six months of training and started college again in the fall '02. Deployed to Kuwait Feburary '03. Got back home April '04. So, there you go for my college life, did some growing up quick as they don't send little girls overseas to war. After that, I was burned out on everything and didn't want to go back to classroom life after living out in the desert for a year. Met my husband on deployment and we were married January '05. Relocated to New Orleans in February as my husband was stationed there. I got pregnant March '05. Hurricane Katrina kicked us out in August '05, so my husband bought me a house close to my parents in San Antonio, I had Noah (my son) in December. my forced us into a dual income home, guess it could be money, or the lack thereof. So, I was a secretary for the Saint Paul District Army Corps of Engineers, and by the way, switched to the Air Reserve and loved it, and I loved the Army Corps too. After a year of Minnesota life, we decided it wasn't for us...too cold, too liberal, too shallow. And we went home, well, close to home. Now I work for the Fort Worth District Army Corps of Engineers, and love it. Actually, I'll be loving it even more when I get my promotion to realty assistant - yes, I'll be leaving Secretary-dom behind and saying "hello" to a real career, you know, the kind with promotion potential. Meanwhile, both Jason and I just rejoined the Army Reserve, I'm working towards getting a commission. My son Noah is awesome. He's a real blessing. Currently at close to 3 years, and he's so smart. I love being around him and am thankful to be his mom. Granted, he does have some fussy times, come on, he's two, but he's still a great little boy. Well that's about it. I'll be surprised if even one person reads this. If that's you, enjoy.
