Life Three weeks after graduating from TMHS, I entered West Point as a member of the Class of 1999. I graduated with my class on May 29,1999, and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Armor Branch of the US Army. I attended the Armor Officer's Basic Course at Ft. Knox, KY, in the fall of 1999, and was then assigned to Ft. Riley, KS, where I served as a Platoon Leader for an M1A1 Tank Platoon. My unit was deployed to Kuwait from August to December 2000 to deter Iraqi aggression. I was promoted to First Lieutenant in November 2000. Most importantly, I got married to Kara Campbell on November 10, 2001. I became a Tank Company Executive Officer shortly thereafeter and remained in that job until early 2003, getting promoted to Captain in October 2002.
