Scott's Story
After FHS, I went to good ol' De Anza College for 2 years and found out that studying is pretty cool (I even stopped cheating!). I transferred to UC Davis and graduated with high honors in Molecular Biology. I then went to UC Berkeley for a Ph.D. in Mol. Biol, but found it wasn't really "my path" and left after 1 year. I moved to New York in '93 and became a computer programmer, where I finally learned how to wear a suit and tie and have since worked on Wall Street for various big corps.
In Sept. 2000, I married a wonderful Brazilian girl and we lived on the Upper East Side of Manhattan (quite a change from good ol' Sunnyvale! ) until summer 2008, when we moved to Westchester county. We have 2 kids (a girl and boy), which keep us rather busy.
I'm now working as an software developer, however, for several years, I've also been doing a lot of human rights work to help stop the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China. And, for the biggest event of my life...so far... In Feb, 2002, my wife and I joined 70 Falun Gong practitioners (from over 20 different countries) and went to Beijing, China. We gathered on Tiananmen Square in protest of the Chinese Leadership's brutal treatment of the practitioners in China. After attempting to raise a simple banner with 3 Chinese Characters (truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance), we were instantly swepted up the police, detained for 24 hrs. and then deported the next day. Now things have calmed down quite a bit...aside from hangin' with the kids, I've been part of a Chinese Dragon Dance team (see a photo in my photos section) for the past 4 years, and that's how I stay in shape..it's a pretty awesome workout running around carrying a 20 lb head on a 6 ft. pole! I've also recently gotten hooked to playing the Ukulele since our trip to Hawaii last year (I played Guitar for many years).
