Scott's Story

Life in general, Hi Everyone, There are so many people out there I've known from so many parts of the world it's nearly impossible to say anything brief yet meaningful to all of you. Have you ever sat there and wondered "What ever happened to_____?" I frequently see or hear something that will remind me of one of you and that question comes to mind. I'd like to know the answer to that question for many people from my past, so find me on FB and contact me. If I remember you (there are 100's of you out there) I do want to know what became of you, good or bad. As for me, I bounced from school to school, 13 before, finally graduating from Parkway West Sr. High in '83 I went to college at Mizzou' briefly that fall. Winter semester of '84 I went to St. Louis Community College at Merrimec. That February I met my ex-wife and we got married that November. In January '85 I joined the USAF. I attended tech school at Keesler AFB, MS for satellite communications that spring and summer. In August we moved to my first permanent duty station at Scott AFB, IL. Our oldest daughter was born in may of '86 shortly afterward I left on the first of 2 long term Temporary Duty Assignments this one to Ft. Gordon GA for five months. I was only back a few months and I was off again this time to Charlston AFB, SC for six months ending late in '87. In February of '88 we were reassigned to Malmstrom AFB, MT and in march our second daughter was born. We stayed there until I got out of the air force in'90 at the end of my enlistment and moved to Garland, Texas in 1992. In 1995 I got divorced from my 1st wife. I am a electronics tech and specialize in fire alarms although I do a lot of other things. I started working for the company I'm with now in 1999. I met my current wife, Linda, on Feb 15, 2003 and we got married on Feb 13, 2005! In December of 2017 we bought a really cool 1940s vintage house and moved to Malakoff, Texas. I LOVE the outdoors! I very much enjoy the state parks here in Texas and I've taken up surf casting and kayaking. So, how is life treating you? I'm only a basic member but you can find me on FB. Kids I have 4 kids. My oldest daughter, Becky, is looking for a job and hoping to take a class or two...hopefully she'll be out on her own in a year or two. My daughter Jennifer moved out years ago and lives in the St. Louis area with her mom. My stepdaughter, Erin, has come back home after a stint in the USAF and now is needing a new job near our current home in Texas. My stepson Andy has also wound up back at home. He currently is working his way through the ranks at the local McDonald's while rebuilding his life after falling on hard times for a while. School I made the mistake of starting off high school as a bit of a recluse while the rumor mill was generating a reputation I never had enough time to live down. Over time I came out of my shell and I got to know a lot of my classmates a little but very few really knew me and even fewer became good friends. If I could do it all again I would have started out trying to be more open and sociable. I wonder what would have happened if I had? I still don't know what most others thought of me, I not sure I want to now. It was a very confusing time, I knew I didn...Expand for more
't "fit in" but I never knew why. Now I know most of us go though that part of our lives feeling out of place. These days I'm a much happier person in a world of misfits. College Where's the keg? Anybody up for quarters? Hey you are beautiful, let's go to my room. That is about the whole story of my stay at Mizzou. It's hard to stay focused when you find out your chosen path might get you the same pay as a kid flipping burgers at a fast food joint after you get your masters degree. Today I'm just a few credits shy of an associates in electronic engineering but probably will change majors to meteorology when I go back to school. The subject has always fascinated me and it might be fun to be the weather man. (70k a year to be wrong most of the time....not bad) Workplace After high school and a brief try at college I jumped into the world of work. I started off in telemarketing and property management. Then I worked as a nurses aide and handyman. In 1985 I joined the USAF where I was a satellite communications tech, maintenance manager and a public relations representative. During that time I also worked on a race team, was a delivery driver and telemarketer again. At the end of my enlistment I got out and ran a small consumer electronics repair shop until it's owners got caught up in legal trouble and went out of business. For a short time after that I did warehouse work and installed residential sheet metal. Then I found a job as an auto body tech where I worked for a few years while the local electronics industry was in a slump. In 1997 I landed a job as a test engineer for a local electronics company but the demands they placed on my time interfered with my other and far more important role as a single father. In 1999 I started my current job as a life safety inspector. On January 6th, 2009 I transferred to the fire alarm service department, a small promotion from inspections but a good career move and I still have most of the positive things at work I always have had. In September of 2013 I became the President of the Dallas Chapter of the American Society of Certified Engineering Technicians. I had to resign from ASCET in 2014 due to conflicts with my primary job. Late in 2016, I became a distributor for a line of AWESOME nutritional called Kyäni. They won't allow me to post a link here so: If you have any questions about Kyäni, need supplements or might want to invest in a distributorship of your own, please find me and contact me on FB. Military The military, whether it was good or bad is a toss up. It provided the education that has made me a success today but it cost me my marriage. I'm very proud of the things we accomplished while I was in but I had to sell out my dignity and personal pride to get there. The unbelievable adventures were fantastic but lose their luster when you can't tell anyone why or where you went when you left your family for six months. If I were a single person with no responsibility for anyone but me and lacking direction in life it would be a great way to go. I wasn't. It is hell for a family and difficult for a person who wanted something specific from life. If I knew then what I know now I'd never join with a wife and family, given any other viable option.
