Life
Hey everyone:
Hope you all are doing well. Gosh, it's hard to believe it has been almost 25 years since we graduated. In some ways, it seems like yesterday and in others, it seems like a different lifetime.
Where to start? Okay, a bit about my current life. I'm married and have been for 12 years. I have three children, ages 7, 6 and 3. My wife and I adopted the kids from foster care. It was quite a journey to become a parent, but well worth it. I still live in the metro Detroit area and work at the airport.
I think I've changed a lot since high school ... I know, we all have. But, in my case, perhaps even more so. Back then, I was very shy and had little self-confidence for a variety of reasons. I'd like to think I've gotten past all of that and have grown up. Not that I'll ever be mistaken for the "life of the party," but I know who I am and I am a lot more self-assured. Having been a journalist for many years, I think, helped bring out those qualities. I wrote for the Observer for awhile and the Ann Arbor News. I loved being a reporter, but found that it wasn't very conducive to family life. So that's how I wound up doing what I'm doing now, which is very unrelated (purchasing).
For those of you that knew me a little, you knew that I was a sports nut. That hasn't changed. I still love the Tigers and had a chance to go to the playoffs and World Series last year. I play a little softball,too, though not very well. Some of that love of sports has filtered down to my kids. They've played soccer and tried gymnastics.
In my free time, which isn't much these days, I still enjoy writing. I've started a novel and a few short stories, but find it difficult to find the time to work on them.
