Scott's Story
After spending two years at NIU I transferred to SIU in Carbondale and earned a degree in Mass Communications (Radio-TV). With Vietnam festering it was nigh impossible to get a decent job without having completed military service, so I signed up for Officer's Training School in the USAF. Earned my commission as a 2nd Lieutenant and spent 4 1/2 years on active duty with service in Sioux City, Iowa; Clark Air Base, Philippines; Saigon, South Vietnam; Nakhon Phanom, Thailand; Dong Ha, South Vietnam; ...Expand for more
and Indian Springs, Nevada. I left the Air Force as a Captain.
Following my military service I spent 11 1/2 years in broadcasting as a disc jockey, then news reporter and Radio News Anchor. I worked in Dubuque, Iowa; Indianapolis, Indiana; and Atlanta, Georgia. Tiring of the weekend and holiday work and "swing" shift hours I changed careers and spent 26 years in public relations/corporate communications with Gulf Power Company in Pensacola, Florida. I am now retired and living in Molino, Florida.
