Scott Larson:  

Life After college, my wife (Beth) and I moved to Southern California. She works at St. Joseph Home Health Agency and a Biller. And I work for Odyssey HealthCare as a Bereavement Coordinator. At night I teach college classes in Philosophy, Ethics, and Critical Thinking. We also have a new addition to our family, my son, Nathaniel Che Larson. Because cost of living is so expensive out here, we are looking at relocating, so I may be back very soon. The biggest difference between then and now is my understanding of the world, and me dedication to progressive change. I volunteer for independent media and have covered events in Washington DC, New Your City, and Los Angeles. The collective I work with has produced documentaries on the anti-war and anti-globalization movements. I have also worked closely with the Not In Our Name Project as well as several affinity groups nation wide. A lot has changed since the high school days of sleeping in the back of the class and not having a care in the world, but I wouldn't take it back if I could. All those experiences made me who I am, and I am fine with where I arrived. Quite honest, it bored the heck out of me and I never saw why doing homework was all that necessary if I understood the stuff. Because I didn't conform to the system, the system began to work against me. Thank god for Mr. Bryant in the wood shop, the only teacher worth a damn at John Glenn. After I got into some trouble, I transferred to Pinckney High School in 11th grade. They wouldn't accept the credits from Glenn and wanted me to go back to 9th grade, and that was my last day of High School. I traveled a little after that, worked with the Guardian Angels in California, lived in Rock Island, IL for a year doing rebuilding from the 93 Mississippi floods through Americore and the American Red Cross. Finally, I was back in Michigan working in the shops of Detroit when I met my wife. She talked me into going to college (I already had my GED). I earned a Bachelor of Science at Central Michigan University in Philosophy (with a minor in Business) in 2001. I earned a Master of Art at Western Michigan University in Philosophy with my emphasis in Ethical Theory in 2003. I am currently working on my Ph.D. at the University of Central Florida in Sociology with my emphasis in Social Inequality. I guess there is hope after high school. College Well, I went to Washtenaw Community College for a bit, and was able to pull my act together. I then transferred up to Central Michigan University. I started off as a double major in Business Management and Philosophy, but dropped the business major to a minor in my last year (A graduate school already accepted me, and quite honestly, business classes were not educational at all, and I didn’t go to school for job training). While at CMU I joined Phi Chi Theta and Phi Sigma Tau. I then went to Western Michigan University and earned my Masters in Analytical Philosophy.
