Scott's Story

10APR09 Well, I started a new chapter in my life. I volunteered to go to Iraq for a year. I was in a career-killing job that was being in El Paso. There are some very beautiful women in El Paso, but that's not a reason to crush your soul. The more I talked to people about my time there, the more I got depressed. I like the team I'm on. Good guys, and the mission were on is good. The only thing I liked doing there was riding my motorcycles. I've been riding motocycles for, virtually, 4 years. I've got about 50K miles under my belt. But, I like riding the twisties. It doesn't take much Imagination that El Paso isn't more than staight and flat. Plus, I would have no chance of getting out of there until I retire in about 5 years, and I would have to deploy every other year. Got promoted Sergeant First Class 01JAN08. Which was good. I'lll I can do now is ride out my time to get back my life. Cheers, ciao, tchuss. Life How do you culminate 36 years into a paragraph? I joined the Army right after graduation from H.S. and played with radios for eight years. In ’94, Clinton became president and down-sized the Military. I decided that it was time to get on with my life and get some college, girlfriends, you know, the good stuff. Well, girlfriend turned into wife, then soon-to-be-ex-wife. I went back into the Army to make it work, or, at least, go back to Germany. Ja, I was there from ’89-’94; long enough to go to Desert Storm. –I still can’t eat Guava. Ask me later. Sorry, I have a thing about tangents. Well, I went back into the Army and could not go to Germany and I lost some other things that are probably of no interest to you. I picked up a job with the Army that deals with microwave communication systems. I was sent to Arizona for three months just to be sent back to the great South West Asia (SWA), Kuwait, for a year acting as a liaison officer for my battalion. Sorry for the mumbo-jumbo. This was during the first Operation Enduring/Iraqi Freedom. I was in the magazine “WIRED” it was a small picture. I believe it was the April ’03 issue. BUT, I WAS FAMOUS! You don’t remember? Oh, well, back to the farm. Well, it has been two years and I am back again in the area of the great SWA. I got a ’03 1200 Harley Sportster when I left Kuwait the first time, which I’m proud to say I have logged over 15,000 miles in a year and a half. I’ll post pictures later. Maybe I’ll post a link to the crash. I’m feeling better! (Click here for the Monty Python accent) Let me know if it works, or not. Well, I hope to hear from you, and if you’re a woman and single, I probably had a crush on you. Workplace I worked for an outlet store to make some money while I was out and goin...Expand for more
g to college. It was O.K. and I got a good deal on a set of Farberware pots and pans. I quit that and worked for the VA's office at Sierra Community College. After meeting my Ex-wife, I got a job working for Wood-Rodgers, Inc. doing odd-jobs. It progressed into an excellent paying job doing environmental engineering for residential developments. Decided to go back to college before the Ex-wife was suppose to finish college, get her commission in the Army and we were going to Germany. Why not finish the degree, or get closer? She said “-what ever.” Stupid me I didn’t take the clue. While I separation, I worked for Starbuck’s. Excellent job, good discount on studying juice. This is about the time I decided that it was “good” idea to go back into the Army to make things work out for the marriage. Historically speaking, this is a bad idea. But, I just reenlisted indefinite, till 2016. At least it paid off the credit cards, and will get me a retirement plan. Kind of hard to study when you get your heart wrenched. Botany was the only thing I could handle out of engineering, physics, calculus, botany and English. The English teacher thought I could complete her class also, but, no. I am grateful of the places that I’ll go, the places I’ve seen, the things I’ll do, the things I have done, the people I’ll meet and the people I know. I have seen thirteen countries, been a teacher, a mentor and a scrub. And, you know what? Home still smells good. –even though it is crowded as hell. Military As mentioned in my main bio, I am in the Army. I am a Staff Sergeant. MOS: 25Q3H73. Microwave Systems Operator Maintainer. I just got done with a year as the Transmission Platoon Sergeant and before that a year as LOS Section Sergeant. I came in to the Army as a 31V and grandfathered into 31U. I got in '94 and went into the IRR for a year just to join the Army Reserve. I was a 10 level instructor for 31U in Sacramento. As mentioned, I'm back in the saddle again. I'm a marksman in Microsoft Office and an official babysitter. If you have kids who are watching TV/ playing X-Box, you should be shot. Get the kids out of the house, because there is no future in PacMan as you should know. Sorry for the rant, but the kids, the Nintendo generation, as My old First Sergeant was quoted as calling them are(the following was censored by Uncle SAM) All I'm trying to say is: Love your children, but be firm with them. Let them make their own mistakes, chuckle to your self, and give them direction. You don’t have to force life down their throat, but force them to see that 18 is coming and get ready to hit the door running. Honestly, do you want your 32 year old kid living in the basement?
