Scott Powell:  

Scott M. Powell is an award-winning educator, published author, and global traveler. A recipient of Ivy Tech Community College's President's Award for Excellence in Instruction, Carroll Shaver Student Advocacy Award, and National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Excellence Award, he has proven himself a leader in higher education championing global studies. In addition to teaching at Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana, he serves as global studies coordinator at the Terre Haute campus. Powell’s expertise has reached all corners of Indiana. He has served two terms as chairperson and one as current vice-chair of Ivy Tech’s statewide social science curriculum committee; he was a presidential appointee to the inaugural statewide faculty council; and a three-time president of Ivy Tech Terre Haute’s faculty senate. Powell is the creator of the Terre Haute campus’ Global Studies Council, and annually organizes events promoting the global studies certificate.
