Kimberly's Story
Life
I married my beautiful bride Teresa, in 1992. She gave birth to three children. First Bethany, than Allyson & lastly our son Cameron. After almost eleven years of struggles, we parted ways and now are divorced. The kids live with Teresa year-round. Since our separation I have embarked on a great new journey that I am excited about. In the coming years I will continue to transition and blossom in to the WOMEN that I have longed to be for most of my life.
In May of 2004, I met Amanda, a male to female transgender. She and I lived together for approximately 8 months before we called it quits. It was a great time, and she really propelled me in my transformation. She has a lovely daughter named Phaedra that spent the summer with us.
After separating from Amanda I moved in with a friend for 8 months in the Capital Hill District of Seattle. Then I got my own apartment, after getting my first job as a woman. I was working for Cingular Wireless, as a customer service representative. That was short lived, but I went on to do similar work for Verizon Wireless.
Since that time I have been homeless and working with some different agencies to find permanent housing and a career. One of the agencies was a culinary school. That was a load of fun, but I exited that program 2-3 weeks short of the complete 16 week course.
I have been dating a phenomenal woman that accepts my transgender lifestyle. She and I have been together since September of 2006 and have enjoyed holidays and birthdays together. We are now in the process of relocating her 85 year old adoptive mother to a better Alzheimer's facility. I don't know what is significant about the number 8 months, but Lore and I called it quits after being together for that long. The year is 2007 and I am now in stable housing w/ a good job and I have claimed this as my victory year, because of the many great things that have happened in my life this year. I finally won my lawsuit, and received a settlement. After nearly 6 long years w/o a relationship with my 3 beautiful c...Expand for more

Military
I joined the Navy shortly after graduating from High School. I joined as submariner and with out a classification, I didn't want to pick an 'A' School and become unhappy with the field that I chose. I went off to Great Lakes Naval Training Center in the Fall/Winter of 1989. I went on a 2 week leave and then went to Groton CT for submarine training. I was then stationed in Pearl Harbor, HI on the Cavalla. Shortly after arriving I left the Navy after a court-martial for conduct and mis-information on my entrance paperwork. That's all there was. It was great while it lasted. Thanks for the memories. I received a General under Honorable Disharge.
Now it is 2009 and I still have not seen my children, but continue to work at a good job, but it is only part-time work. I supplement my income from my job with money that I receive from Social Security, but I am now looking for work elsewhere. I still live in downtown Seattle in the same apartment complex. I have a cat named Thomas.
It is now fall/winter 2009 and I have moved to a new apartment complex in the Capital Hill area. I am delighted with the new place. In fact as I went to sleep last night, I thought this seems like a dream. The place is so different and so much better than my last place. Still working to get a different job. Not sure what I want to do. The other day I was driving and I got stuck in behind the drivers seat for an extended period of time, and found that to be unpleasant, and relieved when I got out at my next stop. It provided insight in to what my ideal job would be. I think that the job I have is a great match already, it just doesn't provide enough income. If either my employer or the government was to provide me with health insurance. I would even feel better about the position I hold as a vending technician. I barely scrape by with the income I make, so I don't have any disposable income. Those are my chief complaints. That someday will all change though. I'm sure of it.
