Sean's Story
Life
After high school went to Mendocino College and completed a semester. Do to financial difficulties I dropped out of college to go in the navy and did 20 years and retired in 2007. Been to Japan, Korea, Hawaii, Guam, Hong Kong, Singapore, Diego Garcia, Philippines, Thailand, Kenya, United Arab Emirates (Dhubai, Jubul Ali), Australia (Sydney, Perth and Freemantle), went through the Suez Canal (seen the pyramids), went through the Straits of Gilbrator (seen the "Rock"). One of the first ones there (Afghanistan) after 9/11 and kicked Taliban and Al Qaeda butt all over the place. I still do my music: Blues, Jump Blues/Early R'n'B, Early R'n'R, Doo Wop, Rockabilly, Celtic and some Country. The musical instruments that I play: drum set, bobhran (Irish hand held drum), sax (soprano through baritone), piano and guitar (my white electric Ibanez hollow body with "F" holes and Dobro resonator) During my first tour at San Diego Naval Station played with a Tradional Celtic...Expand for more
band called "An Flior Bhlas" every saturday night at Reiley O'neil's Bar & Grill if I didn't have duty, also while I was there I was head of the Honor Guard Detail at the decommissioning ceremony of the USS William H. Standley. She was named after the great admiral and statesman who was born and raised in Ukiah. This was most fitting and was a great honor to do it. I also got into Karaoke when I was doing a tour in Japan. I had people coming off the street just to see who was singing, because of my good singing ability. I had to tell them that I didn't sound like that when I first started, persistance pays off. Now on occassions I'll sit in with the band with my Ibanez or my tenor or baritone sax and sometimes play drums at "open mic" night at the 7/11 Club in Ukiah learning new licks and riffs.
