Sean's Story
Life
I studied Chinese (Mandarin) at York University and went on a summer exchange to Taiwan between my 3rd and 4th year. After graduation, I went back to Taiwan to continue perfecting my Chinese. Once I became confident in my language skills, I decided to stay in Taiwan and build up some work experience. I worked in several computer-related import-export companies before finally starting to work in the domestic stock market as an equity analyst.
I later moved into commodity futures research and trading. For the last few years I've been managing futures portfolios while working as a part-time professor in a university here. I also do some translation and interpreting in part-time, mainly to keep my Chinese skills sharp.

I've travelled extensively throughout Asia (Philippines, Thailand, S. Korea, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Maccau, etc.) I enjoy just picking up and going off somewhere in asia for a couple of days on the spur of the moment. there are lots of fun and unique places to go that are amazingly cheap, compared places in the u.s or canada.
I've been working and living now in Asia for almost 10 years. Although it can be frustrating at times living in such a place so different from Canada, an exotic place like Taiwan can also be very interesting, especially when you speak the language and can really get to know the people and the society and how it works. you see new things and learn new things every day.
