Shad's Story
Life
After graduating from Hoggard High School in Wilmington, NC, I majored in Psychology at Brigham Young University. I worked for a year in Wilmington at a drug-treatment center, before moving to Montreal to get my Ph.D. at McGill University. I moved to Chapel Hill NC, for a post-doc in the dental school at UNC as a geneticist studying ...Expand for more
orofacial pain. I became a professor there, and then moved over to Duke University in 2016.
I got married in 2002 and have three kids, Brody, Briar, and Finn. After a divorce in 2019 I got remarried to Arianne in 2021. We live in Durham NC where I do medical research in the Anesthesiology Dept at Duke, and my wife works in a piano store.
