Shandi's Story

Life Hi everyone, well, here's what I've been up to. I am now married, with one kid..and am currently living in Taos, NM. We got married over a year ago, June 19th 2004 to be exact. After high school, I went to Las Cruces to attend NMSU, and I was there for a few years. I couldn't decide what I wanted to do, and unfortunately, I decided what I wanted a little too late. Well, I have yet to finish my degree in nursing, but there is still time. I met my husband while there at NMSU, and we have been with each other since April of 1999. That would be almost six years. After my husband graduated in May of 2001, we moved to Alamogordo, NM. We lived there for two years. While there, I worked in an assisted living facility as a medications technician assisting in the dispensing of medication to the residents. After Alamogordo, we finally moved to Taos, NM. It was at this time that we decided it was the right time to get married. So now, I work at a retirement home in the med center. I love my job, but feel that I am at the right time in my life to finish my schooling, so..... that's what I plan on doing next. School High School was okay for me, although going back, I think that there was so much that I missed out on. I accomplished quite a bit, more than others I guess, but there is so much more that I wish that I had done. School itself was a success, but life other than school was not as much a success. There are alot of memories, some good some bad, but thinking it ...Expand for more
over, I guess I wouldn't change it. College My college years were great, I finally got away and out of shiprock for good!!! That was a major accomplishment, to me anyway. what can I say about college, well, those were the craziest times that I went through, and also the best. I got closer with a few friends that I had before, and I lost some, I also met so many newer faces, some which stuck around and others that didn't, and one in particular that I married and love with all my heart. I experienced so much in college and hopefully soon, I can finish, finally!!!! There are alot of things that I experienced and alot that I didn't, but it was all worth it. I met my husband. Enough said... Workplace Well, the subject of work, I've held down a few jobs over the years, and have learned quite a bit about the world through them. Most of all, how to make a living. During college, I worked at the infamous Golden Corral, mostly as a waitress, it was good money...then, I got my CNA and was a caregiver at an assisted living facility in Las Cruces, then we found out that we would be making the great trek over the hill to alamogordo. I got a job at an assisted living facility there, well, more like transferred, the facility that I had worked at in LC had a branch in Alamo. I was there for over two years as a medication technician, and as the evening shift supervisor. Then, we made the big move home to Taos, where I now work at Plaza de Retiro, Inc. And that's it for now.
