Shane's Story
Life
Adventure rules. After graduation at K-State, and being turned down by Georgetown University, Surprise, I attended KU and obtained a secondary Education degree. I worked with several schools part-time around Lawrence and coached little league football. Spent the summer of 1987 in Europe just for fun. Upon returning I did more substitute teaching and actually worked one semester at Wamego, mostly shop. Five year burn out set in so I went to work for The University of Kansas. Older, more serious students were more enjoyable. Six years later I was recruited by an Environmental Management company. I found the job very rewarding. Six years of Travel and adventures. No, kids and no marriages, unless one counts that foreign girl, but you will have to buy the book and read all the stories.
College
Obtaining degrees from both K-State and The University of Kansas gives me the pleasure of the enjoyment of K-State football and KU basketball.
Workplace
Work, Work, Work, What else needs to be said. I do spend a majority of time in travel to the job site. It is difficult to get hazardous materials transported to the office. Most are located in buildings. Some are found in train derai...Expand for more
lments. BNSF is our major client. Texas, Oklahoma, Illinois, Montana, Iowa, Kansas, and Wyoming are the states I am currently licensed to work in. Project Site Manager is my title. I make sure all Federal and state regulations are followed and documented.
Let's up date this. I currently took a new position with a new company. Thus allowing me to work with a Hurricane response team. New Orleans, twice. Gulf port Ms. and the best place was for hurricane Wilma, in Key West, Fla. Fantasy Fest, was something one would diffidently not experience in Kansas. So now I am currently an instructor. Teaching others what I know. And of course still traveling. Although I do sort of miss that bartender in Gulfport. She was the Mississippi Queen.
So to keep everyone informed. I will be starting a new job at KSU starting August 1 2008. I will be working in the environmental department. It will be hard, being such a loyal Jayhawk fan, working amongst the wildcats. But, closer to home I will be. And of course remember how it was hard to get those building to come to me?! Now I will have a whole campus of buildings just sitting there right out side my office. Wishing everyone the best.
