shannon's Story

This profile is need of an edit: Here goes! 1991 would have been the year I would have graduated, but sadly, I left most of you high and dry as I ran away from home at the age of 17. Most of you may know me as Shannon Mills. I was a foster child and had a lot of things to sort out and a lot of growing up to do but never did I leave my friendships behind. I carried you all with me and the memories I have always held close. It was hard for me to keep friends. Many of you know I was always coughing in school. I had asthma and sometimes those coughing fits would turn ugly. Snot running from my nose, eyes watering, me disrupting the class. Yeah, I knew a lot of you, but I didn't hang with a lot of you. You always asked me questions growing up. I was adopted and looked so different than my older 'sister' and some of you even compared me with her. We were soooo sooo different. Those of you who were curious enough, and who did treat me as your friends, thank you. You have helped me in more ways than you will ever know. I cannot thank you enough. You asked me about me. You got to know me. You liked me, and you allowed me to be me. This was a secret in my foster family; I was not allowed to talk about my memories or my past. I didn't know it at the time, but as a child that caused an identity crisis and I lashed out in problem behavior. I never got mixed in with drugs, but... my behavior hurt some of the fri...Expand for more
endships I formed, lying and stealing. I am truly sorry. So what has happened in my life? Repeated mistakes that my parents made with me. But I have been on a course that allows me to finally heal. That's what I needed most; an environment to heal in. Now, I provide an open space for others to talk out their pain. I want to give back to others as you all have given my life back. I don't know where I would be if you didn't stop me on the playground or in the hall and just let me share. Thank you so much. *One of the pics is a cover of my book. Google my name. you'll find me. I imagine what could have been and what has never been and life has a way of going the way it needs to go. Life finds you if you allow it, and sometimes you find life in the places you least expect. I'm a Christian author, life coach, and peer support mentor. I'm a mother, a teacher as I homeschooled my youngest. I am someone who would be honored if you reached out to say hello. I'd love to know how you all are doing. If not, may you all find your truth, in happiness and love. May you all find your story and hold onto it. May you all achieve only the best for yourself and may you stand in love for yourself and make no compromise to who you are, and who you strive to be. Knowing your worth and value is what takes you very far in this life; so walk in love my friend. Be at peace. I love you, and I always will. Blessings.
