Life
During my Jr. and Sr. year of High School I had to be flown to Denver, Co for ear surgery due to meniear's. I was losing my hearing, but I hid that from everyone in high school as much as I could. I had made varsity swimming and soccer, but had to quit due to scheduled surgery . It was probably the hardest thing I had to do in high school. The surgery was pretty intense as they removed both mastoids.
After graduation I went to TJC for two years getting an A.A degree in sociology- while at TJC I entered the Miss Deaf Oklahoma pageant, and I won Miss First runner up in two years in a row. After graduating from TJC I went to the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. I was on the swim-team , involved with campus crusade, and FCA. I fell in love with Denton , and so after graduating from UNT with my undergraduate degree I hung out and worked in Denton for a few years working for a pediatric rehabilation center and also subsituting at different grade levels with the Denton public schools. While working on my undergraduate degree at UNT I also did a praxis with a hospice, and I loved it. I wanted to experice a little of both fields
( education , and social work ) as I was trying to decide what field to enter for my Masters. I decided on doing both education and rehabilation specializing in working with individuals who are hearing impaired. After choosing to attend the Univ. of Arkansas for their excellant vocational rehabilitaion masters degree program, I moved home to Tulsa from Denton to spend the summer before grad school was to start with my parents, and I took a fun summer job with the city of Tulsa at Whiteside summer camp. I was hoping to get a pretty tan and to have fun with the little kids beforeheading off to graduate school in Arkansas. However, while working at the camp I fell while running, and I tore my menci and acl of the knee. After Knee surgery, I had a great deal of pain, and was unable to gait. I went for the first two semsters of Grad school on crutches depending on new friends, and taxi's for transportation as I did not know a single soul in Arkansas. I had to come back to Tulsa due to the leg pain being unbareable- bath water was burning my skin and the leg was turning funny colors. I found out I had RSD- nerve damage from the knee surgery- I have been in and out of the hospital eversince. This is why I missed our first and second year reuions due to my knee : ( My initial knee surgery was in 97 ( and) it's now 2008...I've even been flown to the Mayo hosp. in MN. I am still having a terrible time with the leg. I am still unable to walk and doctors are still trying to help. I am having a real hard time dealing with the pain. A few years ago I developed a really bad infection in the limb, and I was lucky they were able to save it. While in the hospital I was able to see Pam at St. Johns as she was my physical therapist. She was kind enough to give me a run-down the grapevine with latest of who's doing what that she knew from our first reunion and took photos for me our second . (Thank You !!) I have stayed in touch with Gayle Van Trease, and we talk daily via e mail and chat . She is happily married, and is now Mrs.Villarreal. She is teaching in Arlington, Texas.
I am still single, have not yet married, or had any children. However, I do have an adorable niece, and I absolutely love being an Aunt !
(Hopefully, someday I will get married, as I haven't met Mr. Right yet ! ) My sister has a website with photos -annasophie(dot)blogspot(dot) com

School
Hey! We are a "hell" of a lucky class, and thank God we grew up in the 80's! Our high school years were fun, and I have nothing I could really complain about.Thankfully we were able to leave campus for lunch when we wanted to. I still enjoy the coney's :) I only dread turning 40! I really would love to see everyone!! When people ask me about my high school years, I tell them it was amazing ! Looking back, I have nothing, but wonderful memories. Does anyone have photos of the powder puff football games ? I had alot of fun! We should be really proud to be able to say such wonderful things about our class, and our school. We had great dances, great friendships, great teachers, and the halls were always filled with beautiful smiles! I can only remember one horrible incident, and one I hope everyone remembers is the loss of Shelly Shepard to a drunk driver. As I stated above The last day of our Sr. year Stephanie Starvos and I were hit by a drunk driver, and she and I are very lucky to be alive ! We were also lucky it happened right in front of Ranch Acres Medical building were my mom was able to take X rays right away. Please don't drink and drive !! If Melanie is reading this I would love to hear how you are doing !! Unfortunately, as I also stated above I am unable to go to our reunions due to my health, so I want to say to those who are still reading this < laugh > : 1.No matter where you are in life, it is never too late to go after your dreams, or to make new ones ! 2.Awesome things happen to those who believe not only in themselves, but those who are around them. 3.Enjoy life! Nothing, is more important than enjoying life! Allow yourself and your family to take time out of your busy schedules to enjoy the outdoors! Be and feel blessed ! 4. Share your infectious smile!!Email me! sharecathompson prodigy dot net ! I would love to hear from you ! ( I know this is a tad redundent, but I didn't have much to say .. I'll edit one of these days)
Workplace
Everyone knows I worked at Vandevers in high school until they closed, and then I worked at Foley's while at TJC until I moved to the great state of Texas :) After losing my hearing I entered the Miss Deaf Oklahoma pageant and won Miss Deaf Oklahoma first runner up. I was able to do public advocating which I really enjoyed! I entered the pageant two different years, and both years I won the first runner up title which was really fun . I would have entered again, but I wanted to go to college in Texas. While going to college in Texas, I did have a neat job at the Dallas Cowboy stadium along with a few other girls from my dorm wing. If I can find some of my pictures I will post them. (Alot of my college stuff is in storage). I also worked for a pediatric psychological center as a habilitation therapist, and I really enjoyed working with the families. I also taught deaf ed classes at all grades, and I really enjoyed teaching too! I really enjoyed my life during my college days! Living in Texas was awesome!! Living in Arkansas would have been fun too if I had not of had complications with my knee surgery. Yup, I am fluent in sign language and I love it ! Due to hurting my knee, and having complications with the knee surgery which spread to my foot after one of my doctors accidently broke my ankle I was unable to finish my Masters in Arkansas, and both my graduate degree and my carear life has been placed on hold due to the RSD in the limb as I can't even go outside due to the air burning my leg. I am still undergoing medical treatment .
My Knee surgery:
I tripped in a hole while running and tore my menci and acl . I had complications with knee surgery. As a result I have RSD.As I mentioned above, the nerve damage spread to my foot after one of my doctors accidently broke my ankle. The nerve damage prevents me from being able to walk and from being able to go outside. I have not been able to go outside in the last 8 years. The air burns the leg. To read more about RSD you can go to the website rsds dot org and rsdhope dot org . The second website has very good info on the pain . Click the McGill pain index. Unfortunetly, one week after my return from Mayo Hospital in MN. I had to have midnight emergency surgery due to internal bleeding in my abdomen which was really frightening as I am on blood thinner meds for my left limb.
If your still reading .. go check out my sister's website.. it's a family site, but she has some adorable photos of Anna . :) annasophie(dot)blogspot(dot)com
