Sharion's Story
Even though I moved to Baytown in 1960, seems like I left my heart in Beaumont with friends I knew since the 3rd grade. I retired from Goose Creek CISD after 26 years. I'm married to the most wonderful man in the world and we have five kids and 14 grandkids. After hearing how I loved going to the Beaumont fair, he surprised me one day by having my bags packed for a weekend and took me to the fair. Boy, what memories. It was the only time I have gone since eight grade. My mom taught at Lonnie's School of Hair Design so at the dances, every boy I danced with had glitter from my hair do's. Betty Byerly and Lorraine Wilcox were my closet friends and I'm staying in touch with them both. (sadly, Betty died last year on her birthday) . I played violin in the Orchestra. Remember the flag pole in the middle of the yard at Crockett? My most embarrassing moment was when I ran into it while looking back at a friend. Kids were hanging out of the music room window and saw me!! I remember how I loved being in the choir show of South Pacific and thought Mr. Cupid was the greatest. Believe it or not, my husband and I are clowns for different functions at our church. He teaches our couples class and plays guitar in our Praise Group. He is the Plant Manager of a marine terminal near Houston and loads ships and barges with gasoline, propane and such. The only thing I manage is our little Yorkie pup.
Well, here it is Jan 10, 2017 so I need to update! I'm still married to my hero and still being totally spoiled by him. We have had a few lifestyle changes….for the better. We c...Expand for more
hanged the way we eat, which has gotten rid of his BP and my high blood sugar! And the really fun part for me is that I now buy size 8 clothes!!! Yea!! I had a hip replacement in 2014 that gave me a new lease on life! Six months later we took grand angels to Disney and walked 46 miles in 5 days! Hip did great but probably wore out my warranty! lol We now have 15 grand babies, the newest being our first great grandson…born Nov. We now have 11 grandson's and 4 granddaughters…pretty good for an only child!! Weird that my "little boy" is now a grandpa himself! We still live in Baytown and really enjoying the growth of our town….except the crowded streets!
DAVID CLARK....went to Irvin in El Paso and graduated in 1971. He has great integrity and love for the Lord, and the two together has led to a very successful career. He has been with his company, a marine facility on the Houston Ship Channel loading ships and barges from all over the world. Living in El Paso and Germany as a child, he learned Spanish and German which helps him talk with ships captains and crews. He went from working "on his tools" to Maintenance Supervisor then Operation Supervisor and now is the Manager of his place, Targa Resources. His employees respect him highly and many ask him to pray for specific needs. He always makes breakfast for his employees on their birthdays and also on Thanksgiving and Christmas for the ones having to work. I get breakfast in bed on weekends and it's all shaped in hearts...even the bacon! I thank God every day for my David and am the most blessed wife ever!
