Sharon's Story
After Central I worked in Toronto at the head office of 3 Savings and Loan Companies. In 1972 I got married and got a job at Port Perry Memorial Hospital on switchboard & information desk. When anyone in the office was absent or on vacation I did their job as well. In 1975 I started a new job,
motherhood, a girl born in july and another in 1978 September. We did a lot a camping then and lived on a farm
until we bought our first house in '78
2 weeks before daughter #2. I started decorating cakes in '76 and continued until just a couple of years ago, except
for family. We moved to Oshawa in'80 and I started work again in Sept. '85
this time in a cake store, where I stayed and started teaching decorating
at night school. I left the store but kept teaching in Nov.'92. A BIG BIG
SURPRISE now we had a son 14yrs. since
our last girl and Feb,'94 a brother.
Now we have 2 girls 31(soon) & 34 (2009)
2 boys grades 10 & 12
15 & 17(soon)
We also have 2 grand children,a girl 4
and a boy 2.
I am going to take you back about 11 yrs.June 30th. We were starting our holidays, camping(what else)trailor now. I woke up feeling like I had the flu, I kept waking and going to sleep.
We are in a great trailor park. Bill sent our 6 yr. old to the Office with a note that we needed an ambulance.
someone was sent to the gate, the parking lot, and in front of our trailor. Another person found a sitter for the boys and the owner came with oxygen for me.
I was lucky, the doctor that finally saw me 10 -12 hrs, after I got there had an idea of what I had. I was TTP and chances of getting it was 4 in one
hundred thousand and they had only found something that cured most people in the mid 80's. I was this = close to dying. I was sent to Kingston General by ambulance and was put on dialysis every other day and plasma florisis every day for three weeks.
Dialysis - cleans your blood and removes any excess fluid from your syste...Expand for more
m.
Plas.Flo. - Removes all the blood from your system separates it, removes the plasma and replaces it with new plasma that took about 10-15 bags a day. They did run out of my blood type but manages to get some from western canada.
This TTP shuts all the organs down in your body heart, lungs liver, kidney for just a few. You get the Idea.
I'm still here. I was on dialysis for 9 years 3 times a week. Everything returned to normal function except my kidneys.
I received a new kidney 2 years ago to the day I got sick.
I had a few problems for a while, not with the kidney it is workin fine, just some minor ongoing problems like an infection that would not go away. Its gone now.
If this isn't a commercial for giving blood and signing a doner card what is. You don't need them when you are gone and so many people do.
Enough of that I'm doing great now and that is the main thing.
We just bought a new trailor this summer '09. The trailor is actually a 2010 (I should say cottage) its 44 ft. long with 1 double tip out and 1 single. Master bedroom, king bed, lots of cupbords, lots of windows, bunkroom with desk and closet,LR couch with airbed inside,32" LCD TV, fireplace, table sits 6 comfortably with room to walk around,Lots of storage in kitchen full size fridge, gas stove, furnace and air. We walk out into a 9x20screenroom with vertical slide windows which has a sliding door onto a 9x10 covered deck, and we have a waterfront site. We will be on that site for 10 Years this comming summer on Lower Buckhorn Lake.
If I won $100 million, I'd give 10 Million or more of it to Oshawa,Peterborough, Kingston, Port Perry, & st. Mikes hospitals and other assorted charities., then spend the rest on Family 5million to each of our kids, 1 million to sisterinlaw and husband and each of their two kids., some very good friends and family and buy ourselves a house, travel and invest the rest setting it up so we received 5 to 10 thousand a month. .
