Sharon's Story
Life
Hello everyone,
I went to Glenwood Elementary as well as Jr. High along with my younger sisters Linda and Carol. My dad was transferred to B.C. in 1960 but we returned to St. Vital in 1961 and remained there until 1964. My dad was again transferred but this time to Montreal, Quebec where we lived for 18 months. Our family moved to Belleville, On. a small city with a population of 35,000 in 1966. Dad worked for CNR as Inventory Control Officer for the rail yard until he retired in 1977. The Belleville area finally became a permanent residence for our family. We are two hours east of Toronto, just north of Lake Ontario in a beautiful area called the Quinte region.
I met my husband Paul through CN as he and his father worked in the rail yard for my Dad. My in-laws(to be) ran a small sheep, hobby farm and invited our family to see their new lambs in the spring of 1967. I guess the rest is history as Paul and I have now been married since May, 1968 and have two wonderful sons, Jaye 36 and Bryan who is 33. Jaye lives in our area and is the Production Manager for a local "buy and sell newspaper". Jaye and his girlfriend Chantal have just built a new home and plan to marry in the near future. Bryan resides in Toronto with his wife Lucy and is a graphic designer. I am an avid gardener and write freelance, gardening articles for local papers as well as a magazine called "Insid...Expand for more
e & Out" (your home.) Paul and I reside just north of the city of Belleville, about 12 kms from Hwy. 401 on a one acre, country lot. Our property welcomes all with our "Friendship Garden" sign where I sell numerous perennials every spring. Gardening is a real passion and joy for me with my favourite flowers in the lily and iris families.
My hubby Paul is an owner-operator truck driver and works for Highland Transport out of Toronto. I travel with him when he has a trip to somewhere in the southern states, especially in the early winter and late spring months! We also have a 2002 Suzuki Intruder, 1500 cc motorcycle that we like to take local tours with.
St.Vital holds many, many warm memories for me and looking at old pictures can always bring a smile to my face. Hope you take time to view the ones I have downloaded of the "good old days".
My sister Linda and I attended the Glenwood Reunion in 1986 where we were fortunate to run into quite a few girls that we chummed with back in the late 50's and early 60's. I shall download my pictures from that time asap. There are a few people who I recognize but their names have left my memory bank for now. Hopefully, someone else can fill in the blanks for me.
I always loved sports (and still do) and participated in track, volleyball and basketball as well as softball. I would love to hear from anyone who happens to remember me....
