Sharon's Story

Life Didn't actually graduate with my HS class since life took some wild turns - just looking for some old acquaintances. After I left OB, I got married once - had two daughters, got divorced - remarried - had a son ...finally went back to college...got AA with honors at VCC, Bachelors in Computer Science with honors from Rollins, and MS in Project Management at FIT - pursuing more graduate courses and am now working in Information Technology at a Private University in Florida and doing some adjunct teaching. I look forward to hearing from some of the long lost friends I left behind so many years ago... School School life was really tough back in the day - for as many friends as I had I had that many enemies as well. Luckily we all grow up and move on. :) Looking back I feel a sense of loss at not having been a better, stronger person earlier in life - but things were a real mess back then. It took me nearly 10 years to set my life straight - but I decided long ago never to be just another statistic... So to anyone I may have been cruel to - I am deeply sorry and hope no ill will remains. For those who were cruel to me - I forgive you and know that kids are just kids. And for those who believed I crashed and burned, trashed my future, or ruined my life - sorry to disappoint. This little girl is too tough to ever give up again... College Despite not graduating in the Madison Central class - I eventually got things together, got my GED and started back to school. I scraped up m...Expand for more
oney for unior college - but got into the honors program my first year, so the rest was on scholarship - I got an AA with honors and a full ride transfer scholarship to Rollins College in Winter Park fl - I got my Bachelor's in Computer Science there and graduated with a 3.97, a load of scholarships, and an offer for a full ride at UCF to get my PhD in Computer Engineering. I chose instead to accept a job offer - so we sold the house and moved - and I went the MS in Project Management route instead. I am still taking classes in the post graduate capacity and holding a firm 4.0 - and do not plan to ever be 'finished'. Life is too short to be ignorant. Workplace After I left OB - I did every menial, crap job you can imagine...and I will tell you - nothing is more motivating than suffering through a few years of garbage work to get you back in school. :) I waited tables, worked fast food counters at every greasy food place you can imagine, tended bar, worked in strip clubs, did stock work at the grocery store, sold cars, was a secretary, did some modeling on the side, worked telemarketing, and even did singing telegrams parttime for a while. Later on - after my son came along, I managed a movie theater while I got my undergraduate degree...I worked IT at Rollins for a time, the went to work at ATI Research as a coder/tester. I took a job with Sungard Higher Learning a few years back - and am now the University Webmaster and an adjunct professor at The Florida Institute of Technology.
