Sharon's Story
Life
Last weekend I attended the high school graduation of the daughter of a friend. It made me remember a little about what it was like to finish high school and the people I was with at that time. It made me nostalgic enough to put a few words here.
After high school I attended the University of California at Berkeley, majoring in Forest Land Management. Although the transition from Gridley to Berkeley was quite a shock at first, this was the start of seven pretty wonderful years spent studying and hanging out in coffee houses in Berkeley during the winter and working for the US Forest Service in the High Sierra each summer. hanging out in the High Sierra was beautiful and inspiring and... just a little limiting after a while. Especially in the winter.
So I got this wild idea and enrolled in the Harvard Business School to get an MBA. That was a pretty extraordinary experience and opened the doors to many others. I have worked as a specialist in organizational design and development since graduating from HBS in 1989. During that time, I have lived and worked in Boston, New York, South Africa, Denmark, Atlanta, Amsterdam and Zurich, as well as lots of other places, but still love California best.
